Ellington Highlands

The application to rezone land at 185 West Road was Withdrawn by the applicant on April 21st

Did you know that....

  • Gardner Chapman, owner/Matthew Chapman has applied to change the zoning of 36.73 acres of commercial and residential land to a multi-family zone in connection with the development of a new apartment complex of 22 buildings and 172 units??
  • the zone change would eliminate commercial land along Rt 83 and also eliminate the hillside peach tree orchard which is clearly visible from Rt. 83?
  • the zone change does not comply with the purposes of the Ellington Zoning Regulations or the Ellington Plan of Conservation and Development?
  • the zone change would create a zoning setup unlike any other in the town of Ellington?
  • the zone change was already denied once before in 1987... 24 years ago?
  • the Ellington WPCA Administrator stated this zone change would greatly limit future sewer service for special flow conditions for residential, industrial and business requirements?

It is critical that we are one cohesive unit and address the zoning of the land now. If the land is re-zoned, there will be a large apartment complex adjacent to our homes.
